Wholesale Sweatpants & Joggers: The Custom Buyer's Guide
Share
Joggers went from the gym bag to the everyday uniform, and they are now one of the best-selling pieces in team stores and company swag shops. Here is how to buy them in bulk without guessing on fit, fleece weight or logo placement.
Joggers vs. Open-Bottom Sweatpants
- Joggers: ribbed or elastic cuff with a tapered leg. The modern default, and what most buyers picture when they say sweatpants. The Independent Trading Co. IND20PNT midweight fleece pant is a common reference point.
- Open-bottom sweatpants: straight leg, no cuff, classic athletic look. More forgiving across a wide size run and often the cheaper option.
- Closed-bottom elastic sweatpants: the traditional gym-class cuff without the tapered jogger cut.
- Fleece shorts: the warm-weather counterpart, decorated exactly the same way and usually orderable in the same fabric.
Pockets are the detail buyers forget. Side pockets are standard on midweight joggers and often absent on budget open-bottom pants. If the pants are going to a staff or a team that will actually live in them, confirm pockets before you approve the quote.
Fleece Weight and Fabric
Weight is the number that decides how the pants feel and what they cost. Roughly 7 to 8 oz is a light, summer-weight fleece. Around 8.5 to 10 oz is midweight and by far the most popular for team stores and staff gifts. Above 10 oz you are in heavyweight territory, which reads premium and prices accordingly.
- Cotton/poly fleece: the standard blend. Soft, warm, holds embroidery well and takes a print cleanly.
- Ring-spun and brushed fleece: a smoother face and softer interior, closer to a retail feel.
- Performance poly fleece: lighter, quicker drying and better for athletic programs, with the same polyester decorating considerations as any other poly garment.
If you want a matched set, choose the pants and the top from the same fabric family. Our wholesale hoodies and fleece page lists the hoodie styles that pair cleanly with each pant weight.
Where the Logo Goes
The left thigh, a few inches above the knee, is the default placement and the one that photographs well. The hip or upper thigh works for a small mark. A vertical logo running down the outer leg reads as sport or streetwear and needs artwork built for that shape.
Embroidery on the thigh is durable and looks expensive, and stitch count drives the price more than the size does. Screen printing and DTF transfers handle full-color artwork and gradients that thread cannot. On fleece, a print needs a slightly heavier hand to sit on top of the nap rather than sinking into it.
Whatever you choose, keep the placement consistent across the whole order so a group photo looks intentional.
