Corporate Jackets With Your Logo: Design Guide, Styles and Pricing

Short answer: a good corporate jacket design comes down to five decisions made in order: what the jacket has to do (office, client meetings, field work or events), which brand tier fits the people wearing it, where the logo goes, how it is applied, and which colors and thread you use. The most common corporate look is a 3.5–4 inch embroidered logo on the left chest of a soft shell or fleece jacket, in one or two thread colors, with an optional company name across the upper back. On a 24-piece order that runs about $52 a jacket all-in on a Port Authority J317 and about $87 on an Eddie Bauer EB538. Battle Born Clothing designs, digitizes and embroiders corporate jackets in our Yerington, Nevada shop and ships nationwide, with no embroidery minimum.

The Corporate Jacket Design Process

  1. Start with the job the jacket does. Office and sales teams want a clean soft shell or fleece. Client-facing leaders want a premium brand. Field crews need duck canvas or a weather-resistant shell. Event staff need something light and affordable in a bright, matching color.
  2. Pick a tier for each group. Most companies mix tiers: a premium jacket for leadership and client gifts, a value soft shell for everyone else, all with the same logo. See the tier table below.
  3. Place the logo. Left chest is the default. Add a right-chest name or department, an upper-back company name, or a small sleeve mark. Check where the jacket brand's own logo sits first.
  4. Choose the decoration for the fabric. Embroidery on soft shell, fleece and duck. Transfers on waterproof shells and some puffers. A laser-engraved leather patch for a premium gift look.
  5. Lock colors and approve a proof. Pick one to three thread colors matched to your brand, approve a digital proof with real dimensions, and we stitch a sample before the full run on request.

Where the Logo Goes on a Corporate Jacket

Placement Typical size Notes
Left chest 3.5–4" wide, up to 2.5" tall The standard corporate placement. Centered between the zipper and the side seam, about 6–8" below the shoulder seam.
Right chest 3–3.5" wide Employee name, title, department or a second brand. Also where your logo goes on jackets with a maker's logo on the left chest.
Upper back (yoke) 8–11" wide Company name or website across the shoulders. Reads at a trade show from across the floor.
Full back 10–12" wide Big for a corporate jacket. Screen print or transfer costs far less than full-back embroidery.
Sleeve 2–3" wide A small icon, flag or website on the left or right sleeve.
Back neck 2–3" wide A subtle tone-on-tone mark under the collar for a retail feel.
Vest Left chest only, plus back yoke Vests have no sleeves, so all the branding is front chest and upper back.

The Right Decoration for Each Jacket Fabric

Jacket type Best decoration What we watch for
Soft shell (J317, EB538, OGIO, North Face) Embroidery Bonded fabric can pucker. We keep stitch counts moderate and use a cut-away backing so the logo stays flat.
Fleece and microfleece Embroidery The nap can swallow small text. We add a topping and underlay so fine lettering stays crisp.
Waterproof rain shell Heat-applied transfer Embroidery perforates the waterproof membrane. On true rain shells we recommend a transfer, or embroidery on styles built with a decoration access zipper.
Puffer, quilted and down Embroidery on a flat panel, transfer or patch Stitching across baffles puckers and can let down escape. We place logos on smooth panels and keep heat low on transfers.
Duck canvas (Carhartt) Embroidery, including full backs Heavy canvas holds big embroidery well. See how we hoop Carhartt duck.
Windbreaker and nylon Low-cure screen print or transfer Thin nylon scorches and puckers. Light embroidery works on lined styles.
Premium gift jackets Laser-engraved leather patch Made in-house on our laser. Reads high-end on soft shells, vests and duck jackets.

Corporate Jacket Design Ideas

  1. Classic left chest. Logo on the left chest in your main brand color. Works on every jacket.
  2. Tone-on-tone. Black thread on a black soft shell or grey on charcoal. Quiet, expensive, retail.
  3. Logo plus name. Logo on the left chest, employee name on the right. Ideal for service and client-facing teams.
  4. Back yoke billboard. Company name across the upper back for crews and event staff.
  5. Sleeve signature. A small icon or website on the left sleeve with a clean front.
  6. Leather patch. A laser-engraved patch on the chest for executive and client gifts.
  7. Two-tier program. Same logo on a North Face for leadership and a Port Authority for staff.
  8. Department color coding. One jacket style, different thread colors by team or location.
  9. Anniversary edition. Logo plus a small "Est." year or milestone on the sleeve or back neck.
  10. Matching set. Jacket and vest in the same color family, so everyone can pick a layer.

Design rules that keep corporate embroidery sharp: keep text at least 0.25 inch tall, limit fine details under about 1 mm, use one to three thread colors, and send vector art (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG). We match brand colors to thread and show you the proof before anything stitches. See artwork requirements and embroidery digitizing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where should a logo go on a corporate jacket?
The left chest is the standard placement, about 3.5 to 4 inches wide and centered between the zipper and the side seam. Common additions are a name or department on the right chest, the company name across the upper back, and a small mark on the sleeve. On jackets with the maker's logo on the left chest, the company logo goes on the right chest.

Is embroidery or printing better for company jackets?
Embroidery is the standard for corporate soft shells, fleece and duck canvas because it looks premium and lasts. Waterproof rain shells and some puffers are better with a heat-applied transfer, because embroidery perforates the waterproof membrane and can pucker baffles. Large back designs are usually printed because full-back embroidery is expensive.

How much do custom corporate jackets cost?
At Battle Born Clothing a 24-piece order with a left-chest embroidered logo runs about $52 per jacket on a Port Authority J317 soft shell, about $87 on an Eddie Bauer EB538 and about $153 on The North Face Ridgewall soft shell, plus a one-time $18.99 digitizing fee.

What is the best jacket for corporate gifts?
For client and executive gifts we recommend The North Face, TravisMathew or Outdoor Research with an embroidered logo or a laser-engraved leather patch. For all-staff programs, the Port Authority J317 and Eddie Bauer soft shells give a clean look at a lower cost.

Is there a minimum order for embroidered corporate jackets?
No. Battle Born Clothing has no minimum on embroidery, so you can order a handful of executive jackets or several hundred staff jackets.

How long do custom corporate jackets take?
Standard turnaround is about 28 days from your approved proof, plus shipping. Rush is available and quoted per job.
