Hat Size Chart: How to Measure Your Head and Find Your Cap Size
Short answer: wrap a soft tape measure around your head about an inch above your eyebrows and ears. That number in inches is your head circumference. Find it in the chart below to get your fitted hat size. Most adults land between 7 and 7 1/2.

How to Measure Your Head
- Use a soft tape. A sewing tape works best. No tape? Wrap a string or phone charger cable, mark it, then lay it against a ruler.
- Go where the hat sits. About one inch above your eyebrows, just above the tops of your ears, around the widest part of the back of your head.
- Keep it snug, not tight. Measure twice. If you fall between sizes, go up.
Flexfit Stretch-Fit Sizes
Flexfit caps such as the 6277 use a stretch band instead of a snap or strap. Per the Flexfit 6277 spec sheet, each size covers a range of fitted sizes:
| Flexfit Size | Fits Hat Sizes |
|---|---|
| S/M | 6 3/4 to 7 1/4 |
| L/XL | 7 1/8 to 7 5/8 |
| XL/2XL | 7 3/8 to 8 |
The Flexfit 110 is different: it has a stretch band plus a snapback, so it is sold as one size.

- Snapbacks and truckers like the Richardson 112, Yupoong 6606 and 6006 are one size fits most. They cover the middle of the chart, roughly 7 to 7 3/4. Richardson also makes an XL version of the 112 for bigger heads.
- Dad hats like the Yupoong 6245CM use a strap and buckle and are one size.
- Beanies are one size and stretch to fit.
- Bucket hats are often sized S/M and L/XL. Check the style before ordering.
