Independent Trading Co. Size Chart: IND4000, SS4500, SS3000, PRM4500 and SS1000

Short answer: an Independent Trading Co. IND4000 medium measures 23″ across the chest (laid flat) and 29.5″ long. The midweight SS4500 medium is 22″ across and 29″ long, so the IND4000 runs about an inch roomier through the chest in most sizes. Both run true to size for most people. If you like a looser hoodie, take the IND4000 in your normal size. If you are between sizes in the SS4500, size up.

Every number below comes from the size charts Independent publishes on its own product pages, in inches. Chest is measured one inch below the armhole across the front, so double it for the full chest. Body length runs from the high point of the shoulder (HPS) down to the hem. Fleece is cut and sewn, so expect a little variation from piece to piece.

SS4500 Midweight Hoodie Size Chart

The SS4500 is Independent's 8.5 oz midweight pullover. It is lighter and a touch trimmer than the IND4000, and it is the hoodie we quote most for crews, schools and events because of the price.

SS3000 Midweight Crewneck Size Chart

The SS3000 is the crewneck version of the midweight line. Independent lists it as pre-laundered, so expect less shrinkage than an unwashed fleece.

PRM4500 Pigment-Dyed Hoodie Size Chart

The PRM4500 is a 9 oz unisex midweight hoodie with a pigment-dyed, washed-in look. It runs close to the SS4500 in the smaller sizes and slightly narrower from L up.

SS1000 Lightweight Terry Hoodie Size Chart

The SS1000 is a 7.5 oz loopback terry pullover, the lightest hoodie in the line. It is cut trimmer than the fleece hoodies, so most people size up if they want room to layer.

How to Measure and Pick a Size

1. Lay a hoodie you like flat. Measure straight across the chest one inch below the armholes. Compare that number to the "chest (half)" column.
2. Measure the length. Go from the top of the shoulder seam, next to the collar, straight down to the hem.
3. Pick the size with the closest chest. If you land between two sizes, go up for a relaxed fit or down for a closer fit.

Do Independent Trading Co. hoodies run big? The IND4000 runs roomy. Independent calls it a generous fit, and it measures about an inch wider than the SS4500 in S and M. The SS4500 runs true to size.

Is the IND4000 bigger than the SS4500? Yes, slightly. A medium IND4000 is 23″ across the chest and 29.5″ long. A medium SS4500 is 22″ across and 29″ long.
