Pre-1936 Heritage · 3 Colorways · Hand-Digitized Embroidery Throwback Toyoda
| ||||||||||||||
The Story Behind the NameSakichi Toyoda founded Toyoda Automatic Loom Works in 1926. When his son Kiichiro pivoted the company into automobile manufacturing in the 1930s, they held a public contest to design a new logo. The winning entry changed Toyoda (豊田) to Toyota (トヨタ) — it took 8 brush strokes instead of 10, considered luckier in Japanese culture. The original Toyoda diamond logo disappeared from vehicles after 1936, making it one of the rarest and most sought-after heritage badges in the Toyota community. Why Embroidery Beats Heat Transfer
|
Most Toyota hats you'll find online are print-on-demand — a heat-transferred vinyl or DTG print slapped onto a generic blank from an overseas warehouse. They look fine for a month, then the logo starts cracking at the edges, peeling in the wash, or fading in the sun. That's what happens when the design sits on top of the fabric instead of being part of it. The Toyoda diamond on this hat is direct embroidered — thousands of thread passes stitched directly into the hat panel fabric. The design doesn't crack, peel, or fade because it is the fabric. Our embroidery stabilizer guide breaks down the technical side — backing material, stitch density, and why the right digitizing matters for clean edges on detailed logos like this one. Every hat runs through our Happy multi-head embroidery machines in Yerington. Same equipment that embroiders Carhartt industrial workwear for Nevada mining crews. The thread outlasts the hat.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Toyoda logo mean?Before Toyota existed, there was Toyoda (豊田) — "fertile rice paddy," the family name of founder Sakichi Toyoda. In 1936, a public contest changed the name to Toyota because it took 8 brush strokes (luckier than 10 in Japanese culture). This hat features the original pre-1936 Toyoda diamond logo. Full story: From Toyoda to Toyota to TEQ.

Is this hat officially licensed by Toyota?Battle Born Clothing creates original, Toyota-inspired designs for the enthusiast community. This hat celebrates the historic Toyoda diamond logo and pre-1936 heritage. We are not affiliated with Toyota Motor Corporation.
How should I care for this hat?Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. For deeper cleaning, hand wash in cold water and air dry on a hat form or over a bowl to maintain crown shape. Do not machine wash or dry — heat and agitation can distort the structured front panels.
